Travel options:
From Colombo International Airport:
By car/taxi is the most direct option, or use a ride-sharing service like Uber to drive directly to Mirissa, which takes about 2-3 hours.
You can also take a bus from the airport to Colombo, then connect to a bus or train to Mirissa. This is the cheaper option.
Accreditation:
Belgian physiotherapists can earn 24 accreditation points by joining this Physio Camp.

Choose a Room:
You can choose between 4 room types:

Day 1 – Sunday
Arrive in Mirissa and settle into your accommodation. In the evening, join the group for a welcome meeting and dinner to kick off the week and connect with fellow participants.
Day 2 – Monday
Start the day with breakfast, followed by the first session of the Physiotherapy Course in the morning. In the afternoon, hit the waves with your first guided surf lesson. The day wraps up with dinner at one of Mirissa’s local restaurants.
Day 3 – Tuesday
After breakfast, continue with day two of the Physio Course. The afternoon brings another fun and active surf session. Enjoy the evening with a group dinner at a different local spot, soaking in the beach-town atmosphere.
Day 4 – Wednesday
Enjoy breakfast before heading into the third session of the Physio Course. Surfing follows in the afternoon, with expert guidance tailored to your level. Cap off the day with dinner and a chance to share stories from the waves.
Day 5 – Thursday
Fuel up with breakfast, then attend the final session of the Physio Course. Spend the afternoon surfing your last waves of the camp, followed by a celebratory dinner in town with the group.
Day 6 – Friday
Say goodbye to Mirissa and your new friends as the camp concludes. Depart with fresh knowledge, new connections, and unforgettable memories from your time in Sri Lanka.

Sporting UpperLimb Masterclass Course – Overview
Overview
This 4-half day course, delivered in a stunning location, has been shaped to combine effective methods of assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of the whole UpperLimb; Hand, Wrist, Elbow and Shoulder. The tutor has a strong background in the management of these areas and will present a course that will allow clinicians to enhance their existing knowledge and impact positively in their respective practice. The content is constantly updated with new evidence-based practice from clinical experience, current research, and feedback from previous courses. To date the content delivered in various countries by the tutor has been positively received by physiotherapists, occupational therapists, sports therapists, osteopaths, chiropractors, doctors, and other allied professionals. Whether you are working in a private clinic, hospital setting, ministry of defence (MOD) service, or sporting environment you will surely find the information to be immediately applicable to your role. These two days will engage your learning in an interactive and fun environment!

- Applied anatomy and mechanics of the UpperLimb, for enhanced understanding of injury causation and management.
- Differential diagnosis & problem-solving of diverse pathologies, ensuring clinical reasoning towards safe and appropriate injury management.
- Consideration of the kinetic chain and the whole individual, enabling a holistic approach towards UpperLimb injuries.
- Comprehensive appreciation of objective measures, encouraging better understanding of UpperLimb function towards effective return to sport/work & performance.
- Synthesised rehabilitation design and planning strategies, facilitating the management of expectations and generating a successful pathway.
- Review of adjunctive therapies, with consideration towards pain management in the presence and absence of pathology, promoting an evidenced-based approach.
- Balanced theory and practical delivery, with demonstration of a wide selection of exercises and hands-on techniques, targeting different learning styles.
- Encouragement of debate in a positive learning environment, enabling analysis of simple-to-complex sporting and non-sporting UpperLimb injuries. Use of real case studies to highlight key areas.

Ian is a globally respected upper limb injury specialist with over 23 years of experience supporting Olympic, Paralympic, and professional athletes. He is also known as the physiotherapist and cutman for Team Anthony Joshua.
Ian currently holds an advisory role at the UK Sports Institute and lectures at multiple academic institutions. He completed a PhD in Upper Limb Sports Biomechanics and is a widely published author.
He brings extensive clinical and teaching expertise, delivering engaging, evidence-based courses around the world.

1. Who is this camp ideal for?
This camp is designed for physiotherapists and surfing enthusiasts who are curious about advancing their knowledge in physiotherapy, while also enjoying the chance to surf and connect with like-minded individuals from around the world. It’s a great mix of professional development, movement, and fun! No prior surf experience needed!
2. Do I need to know how to surf?
Not at all. The surfing sessions are completely beginner-friendly and adapted to your skill level. Whether it’s your first time on a board or you’ve surfed before, our experienced instructors will guide you every step of the way to ensure you feel safe, supported, and stoked.
3. What is included in the cost of the camp?
Your camp experience includes 5 nights of accommodation, a 4-part half-day physio course, and 4 surf lessons led by qualified instructors. Daily breakfasts are also included.
4. Is the course accredited?
Yes, you will receive a certificate of attendance worth 16 CPD hours. Only Belgian physiotherapists can get accreditation points by joining this Physio Camp.

5. What is the refund or cancellation policy?
Cancellations made more than 60 days before the camp start date are eligible for a full refund. If you cancel between 30 and 60 days before the camp, you’ll receive a 50% refund. Unfortunately, cancellations made less than 30 days before the start date are non-refundable.
