“Swim, Bike, Run Supercharged: Managing the triathlete from Plinth to Podium”

Course Overview
A comprehensive 2-day immersive course designed for physical therapists, sports medicine professionals, and strength & conditioning coaches working with triathletes.
The course blends applied biomechanics, load management, Training concepts, and performance rehabilitation with psychological and communication strategies to optimise the rehabilitation and performance enhancement process.
Through interactive workshops, live case studies, and real-world problem-solving, participants will develop practical frameworks for assessment, rehab planning, and performance programming across all triathlon disciplines.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
1. Conduct thorough biomechanical and load-based assessments for triathletes, including individual sport aspects.
2. Create progressive, evidence-based rehab programs tailored to distance and athlete type.
3. Apply practical load monitoring and data interpretation tools in clinical settings.
4. Integrate psychological and communication strategies into rehab to enhance adherence, injury risk reduction, and performance-based criteria.
5. Plan safe, performance-oriented return-to-tri processes within seasonal and event frameworks.
6. Foster confidence within the therapist or coach in understanding and management of the triathlete.
Target Audience
Physiotherapists, physical therapists, sports chiropractors, osteopaths, athletic trainers, and rehabilitation professionals working with triathletes of all levels.

Mike James – The Endurance Physio

Mike is an experienced physiotherapist, educator, and speaker with a multidisciplinary background primarily spent in the military and elite sport. A former Military Physical Training Instructor and rehabilitation specialist, Mike holds master’s degrees in both Physiotherapy and Sports Medicine, alongside undergraduate degrees in Sports Rehabilitation, Strength & Conditioning, and Sports Science.
Widely known in the therapy and sports medicine communities as The Endurance Physio, Mike is a highly regarded contributor to national publications and a regular speaker at leading conferences, professional events, and academic institutions. He also designs and delivers specialist workshops and CPD courses for clinicians, coaches and athletes across the UK and internationally.
He has successfully supported athletes and therapists working from grassroots to World class for over 25 years, including multiple national, international and world level athletes in triathlon, swimming, cycling and running.
Mike is also a 19-time Ironman finisher, former Great Britain Age Group athlete and has completed double, triple and Deca Ironman challenges.
He has also swum the English Channel, cycled and ran LEJOG and JOGLE as well as completing over 500 marathons, ultramarathons and competitions worldwide since the 1990’s.

Mike’s primary interests lie in athlete monitoring, exercise prescription, and the science of adherence and behaviour change, specifically aiming to help therapists improve their knowledge and skills in delivering truly bespoke plans that patients and athletes find effective and engaging.
Passionate about bridging the gap between research and real-world practice, he is committed to delivering evidence-informed insights in a way that is both accessible and actionable for therapists, coaches, and athletes alike.
He currently lectures full-time on the Physiotherapy programme at the University of South Wales, while also leading a busy clinical practice and coaching business supporting athletes at all levels to optimise rehabilitation outcomes and long-term performance.
Mike enjoys teaching his courses globally to therapists, athletes and coaches alike, and has extensive experience in organising and leading training camps worldwide.
